An Oregon-based cannabis company called “Briteside” released a commercial parodying prescription drug ads, and it’s spot on.
The commercial published Nov. 7 on the company’s Youtube channel begins with sad piano music, before zooming in on an “overwhelmed” soccer mom cutting up orange slices. After stressing over her bills, she stares out a window until she finds the solution to all of her problems: weed.
The mom opens up her computer and chooses a cannabis strain she wants delivered to her house. Suddenly the music picks up and the narration becomes more positive and hopeful.
Towards the end of the ad, the narrator reminds the viewer “Briteside” is a real company.
“Briteside” is an online delivery service providing it’s customers with specific strains of marijuana within the state of Oregon. They also offer edibles, concentrates, and topical weed products. Recreational marijuana was legalized in Oregon by a ballot measure during the 2014 midterm elections.
