An utterly bizarre mating spectacle took place right on top of a shocked woman’s iPhone. The device’s owner is unable to contain herself after two flies perched on top of her mobile and began mating. The video was filmed in Baoji city in northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province earlier this month.
She can be heard saying, ‘Why are you mating on my phone? Oh my god, they’re turning around!’ The flies keep up their antics until the woman finally rests her arm. She added, ‘That’s enough, my hand is too tired!’ and flings the bugs off her phone.
A deadly insect bacteria has been found to hijack the sex pheromone system of flies and other insects to tempt over its next unwitting victim. Healthy vinegar flies were found to be more sexually attracted to infected insects because the sneaky pathogen, known as ‘Pseudomonas enteromophila’, forces its victims’ sex hormone system into overdrive.
The finding could help experts improve pheromone-based bug traps used to protect people from insect-borne diseases like malaria.
