Disturbing footage has emerged of a dying shark being tied to a car and dragged along a Western Australia road.
The video was initially posted in the Fishing Western Australia Facebook group and shows the animal tied to a rope and hauled behind a vehicle at high speed.
Although barely moving, the shark is clearly alive for part of the video and can be seen bleeding as it is pulled along the quiet stretch of road.
The callous recorder of the clip is heard laughing in the background and saying ‘he is done’ in reference to the shark’s welfare.
The Facebook group where post was made markets itself as a space where members can ‘ask for help, offer tips and show off their pics’.
The circulation of both clips led to the Western Australian Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly to condemn the behaviour.
The video follows a string of similar incidents across the state and has led to animal welfare groups to call for tougher legislation.
