Dana White’s Contender Series 4 put on some pretty epic wars and fights in recent weeks. Marquez came into the fight 5-1 and is considered one of the best middleweight prospects in MMA.

Hawes was caught early on by a head kick, but finished the first round on top of Marquez as he showed off his excellent wrestler skills. But, Marquez was just as dangerous in the second and when he had Hawes on the ground he allowed his opponent to get back to his feet.

Hawes scramble to stand up, but as he straightened up, Marquez let fly with a skull crushing head kick and his rival went down like a ton a bricks.

Damn. I haven’t seen a kick knockout like that since the glory days of Mirko “Crpo Cop” Filipović. Needless to say, Marquez was one of the fighters offered a UFC contract after the event ended.
