Frightened elephants scatter as swarm of bees sends them into a frenzy

They may be among the largest of the animal kingdom, but that didn’t stop this herd of elephants being scared by a swarm of bees.

Around 50 of the majestic animals stopped what they were doing and scattered to get away from the buzzing mass. The youngest and smallest in the group seemed particularly distressed and raced to their elders for protection.

Catherine van Eyk, 27, said: “At first we were very confused as to why they were so upset, we thought maybe there were lion is the area. After watching for awhile we could see a swarm of something in the distance through the binoculars. We presume they were bees but not are completely sure. It was fantastic to watch, although they were in distress, it was definitely something unique to see.”
