Hip Hop Dancers Slay in an Amazing Dance Rendition of ‘The Nutcracker’ with the California Philharmonic

Ballet music may not appeal to many, but that didn’t stop a group of talented hip hop dancers from adding a modern twist to a timeless classic.

When musical maestro Victor Vener was trying to come up with a new way to perform Tchaikovsky’s world famous ballet classic, “The Nutcracker,” with the California Philharmonic, he enlisted the help of talented dancers Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer, James “BDash” Derrick and Kevin “Konkrete” Davis to perform a choreographed dance routine.

The “So You Think You Can Dance” and “America’s Best Dance Crew” dancers/choreographers slayed with their impressive animation hip hop dance, popping in-sync to the music provided by the CalPhil to the delight of the 1,900-strong audience at the Pasadena Civic Center.

It’s a great idea to bring in a much younger audience to appreciate the classics.
