Little boy demonstrates unbelievable ‘most humane’ way to kill an octopus on hunting trip with father

A father has recorded footage of his 10-year-old son killing an octopus by biting it while he instructs him on what to do.

Although it may seem unusual, the method is regarded by some as being the most humane way to kill an octopus.

In the video, 10-year-old Koa Afong, from Honolulu, Hawaii, is seen attempting to bite the octopus between the eyes, where its brain is located, in order to kill it instantly.

His father, Bricyn, 35, had taken him to Ala Moana beach park, on October 21, to teach him how to hunt, grab and kill the creatures.

It is common practice for fisherman to hunt octopus this way in Hawaii and is often taught when they are introduced to diving as the octopus can be found in shallow water.

Bricyn said: “This is the first time Koa has ever done the entire hunt, probing and biting himself.
