This is the moment a pot of boiling water is flung into the air only to immediately freeze over head. The footage shows a man in the town of Couburg, Ontario, Canada, braves temperatures of -34C to attempt the stunt.
As he flings the pot skywards the scolding water freezes in an instant resulting in a deluge of ice.
Similar videos have been uploaded online before with the astonishing outcome believed to be the result of Mpemba effect, the observation that in certain circumstances warmer water freezes faster than cold.
While the temperature was officially -34C it would have been far colder with wind chill.
People have been warned not to attempt the stunt as in the wrong temperature the water will not freeze and will instead scold those throwing it.
The US and Canada have been hit by record breaking low temperatures in the past week which have so far been linked to 19 deaths. Cars have frozen to the ground following flash floods and freezing temperatures which can feel as cold as -64C.
