As if massive hairy spiders aren’t terrifying enough, watching how they shed their skin kick certainly kicks it up a notch.
Molting is a normal process that some animals go through when they need to grow. Their exoskeletons rupture to make way for the new skin, like this large tarantula that just had to grow a bit larger for its shell.
In this timelapse video, this Xenesthis sp. white tarantula took a total of 10 hours to complete its molting process, with the spider ending up exhausted after the whole ordeal.
Watching the whole process makes my skin crawl.
