The Royal Navy bomb disposal unit has found a huge german mine in the Solent — a stretch of water that connects the Isle of White to the British mainland. Did they leave it there? Hell no, they blew it up!
The bomb was apparently discovered by a crane barrage that was dredging the straight. Since thousands of boats pass through this straight every day the Royal Navy decided to blow it up, in spectacular fashion, of course.
The massive mine dates back to WWII. The mine was lifted to the surface before they blew it up, and when they did the explosion cause a plume of water shooting 1000ft into the air.
